1981

It’s so funny how a brief conversation a little while ago with my daughter on the phone suddenly took me back to when I was a teenager.

She has five daughters who are absolutely beautiful and yet the oldest was in the background of our call talking about something about her looks that she wishes was different.

Then, I was looking through my photos on Facebook a few minutes ago and stumbled on this picture. I had to laugh…or cry…or both!

Do you see this adorable kid?
Chubby cheeks, big eyes, curly hair (it looks red in this pic, but it was blond), surrounded by walls covered in her artwork?

Yeah, all I did was pick on her!

“Ugh, why is my hair so curly?”
“Why do I have to have such a chubby baby face?”
“Ugh, I’m so FAT!”

What I wouldn’t give to go back to 1981 and tell her how beautiful she was and how talented and sweet and adorable.

Love yourself, girls. Yes, we could all use improvement, but you don’t have to fit in everywhere because everywhere often doesn’t deserve you.
