Free Speech in America? Apparently Not Unless You Say What I Want To Hear

Regardless of your political affiliation or opinions, an American citizen’s right to free speech was bullied and threatened into silence tonight. If you are cheering for those who shut this man down tonight and took away his right to speak, apparently you only believe in the first amendment when your opinions are heard and screw anyone else who doesn’t agree with you. THIS in and of itself is why this country is falling apart.
You can’t bully or stop other citizens from saying what they want to say, simply because you disagree with them, and be taken seriously. Support who you want to support and say what you want to say with your vote. You have all the same rights as the next person but to disrupt a legal rally and shut it down because you don’t like what the candidate stands for is taking away someone’s constitutional rights.
This rally was shut down at Trumps request, under the advisement of law enforcement and security out of fear of violence from both sides. Anger and passion is not exclusive to the protesters as we’ve seen. One observation I have made of Trump supporters is they aren’t afraid to push back or throw the first punch. Why does it have to come to this?
Please don’t comment if you just want to get into a political pissing contest with me because I won’t play that game. My politics are my own and I won’t engage on that subject here. This post is about ALL OF OUR RIGHTS as Americans, not politics.
People are angry and passionate on both sides but that’s no excuse to throw your weight around and use force and threats against a fellow American simply because you don’t agree and that goes for both sides. Yes, love him or hate him, Donald Trump is an American citizen the same as you.
Congratulations to both sides tonight. To those who chose to put a gag on free speech, you succeeded in not only shutting Trump down but you also made a martyr out of him.

  1. The behavior of Trump and his supporters is abhorrent. It makes the United States look like a foolish nation full of thugs. I’m waiting for the Scooby Doo ending where Trump takes off his mask and he is an ISIS terrorist.

  2. Free speech doesn’t mean you just say things without consequences. People can say whatever the hell they want but that doesn’t mean we have to listen to the BS. The things Trump says are not free from criticisms especially if he sends messages of hate, racism, and bigotry.

    • Exactly. However, free speech goes for all, not just certain people. Everyone is accountable for their words and deeds. The problem isn’t free speech. If you put it out there, you own it. The problem is silencing it. He has a constitutional right to get a permit, rent a venue and speak to his followers just like anyone else in America. Just because someone of a differing opinion and I stress the word opinion, doesn’t like it or believes its inflammatory, doesn’t give them the right to stop him from saying what he wants. You can’t have it both ways. It’s the law of the land. If you don’t like what someone has to say, you don’t listen. You don’t have the right to shut them up.

  3. I agree that everyone should have the right to free speech even those I don’t agree with. When faced with those that think they can force their opinion upon you, I just shut up and let them rant. FREE SPEECH is one of our basic rights as Americans. A.G.
