Weekend Update – Book Signing Success – No Rest for the Weary

Yesterday I was blessed to finally have my book signing / pirate party / meet and greet for The Blue Diamond – The Razor’s Edge.

I didn’t expect a huge turnout so I only brought 20 books…I sold and signed them all. 🙂

Here are a few pics from the event. I’ll admit it was fun to dress up and play Ivory for the afternoon and I brought along my crew of cousins to lend a hand…fast forward the fabulous foursome about twenty years..lol

Another happy winner!

My amazingly supportive family and friends. These women are the definition of soul-mates. Can you figure out who’s who of the crew?

These are what you call FRIENDS.

These are what you call FRIENDS.

If I were ever to run away and become a pirate, these are the first three women I’d sign on as crew members. They are amazing beta readers. They organized this book signing down to the decorations and door prizes. They did set up and clean up and worked as cashiers, sold raffle tickets and handled the security…well, they made me feel secure in knowing they always have my back and support my goals 100%.

After the signing, we let the good times keep on rolling and a few of us headed out for the rest of the evening to hear my brother-in-law’s band, Shaky Magoo. I ran into so many old friends I couldn’t keep up with trying to speak to each one individually but I found myself wrapped up in the arms of so many of my old pals I was warm and fuzzy from head to toe all night. Sorry for the fuzzy pics though. I guess how I was feeling spilled over into my iPhone.

My favorite dentist with her arm in the air. It was fun seeing her out of the office. She’s a blast!

Then it was up early this morning for breakfast with this cutie and back to the usual grind of grocery shopping and laundry.

Then, later, a couple of hours with these two cherubs of love and joy.

Twinnies

Not to sound like a whiner but after my usual week of work, babysitting and daily writer dream pursuits…it’s fair to say I’ve had no rest what-so-ever this weekend and there isn’t any in sight.

Nothing new here!

Thanks for stopping by…see you next time!

Thanks to my friend Bobby Duncan for taking this very nice photo of me last weekend while I was helping my husband DJ a wedding.

My BIG Box of BIG Beautiful Books Came This Evening!

This is when it really hits me.

My first box of books for my book signing next month, arrived tonight.

The Blue DiamondI want to just sit here and read it but I can’t tonight. I will tomorrow though!

There’s just something about holding your very own book in your hands that never gets old no matter how many times you do it.

Drifting Along With the Tumbling Tumbleweeds

Today I had a second to walk off and catch my breath and a feeling washed over me that I described as feeling as if I’m tumbling through time. Not tumbling at any particular angle but just like a tumbleweed on a flat surface. I need to just stop for a minute and get myself in order.

PUBSLUSH:

My Pubslush campaign ended last night. No, I didn’t even come close to my goal but it was an interesting and sometimes frustrating experiment in crowdfunding but only frustrating due to the negativity I saw in regards to the whole process. I never let it get to me and never once turned back. I kept tumbling along and saw it through to the end. That’s how I roll. (Yeah I know…you saw what I did there) The most important part of this section is this: THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED TO MY CAMPAIGN!!!! YOU ALL ROCK!!!

WRITING:

I haven’t had much time to work on my sequels to either of my novel series’ because my life has been a little out of sync but the outlines are done and I know how I write when the fire takes hold so I’m not worried that at least one of them will be ready to head off to the editor by January. Hang in there folks. I promise they are in the works.

COLLABORATING:

I’ve recently joined the wonderful  LIT WORLD INTERVIEWS web site as a contributor. I’ve been working on my first article for days and since I’m contributing, I want to make sure what I have to offer is worthy of Ronovan’s hard work in building this site. I don’t mind a face plant now and again because it keeps me grounded but turf in my own face-mask is fine. Putting turf in a team mate’s isn’t. I’ll be working along side several wonderful writers so this is an honor.

NANOWRIMO:

Yep. I’m in. I’m hoping the stress keeps the brain cells firing and puts me back on the writing track with a whip and a chair. I’m ready. Let’s do this.

BOOK MARKETING:

I can always use some help with this. If anyone feels like tossing out some retweets and Facebook posts or reblogs, I promise to return the favor. I’m hoping to get some more reviews from all of the free advanced copies I gave away. HINT HINT. So far the feedback on The Blue Diamond has been fantastic and humbling at the same time.  I’m here for the taking if you have an empty white space to fill. I’m ready when you are. I’m also thinking about a book trailer. I dear friend gave me some great ideas today. Now to find the time to do it.

DAY JOB:

Yep. 40 hours a week. Selling, admining, advertising, marketing and herding cats in the printer and copier business.

BOOK SIGNING PARTY:

My better than I deserve family and friends have joined forces to help me throw a big, fun filled afternoon–pirate style!!! They’ve been procuring, collecting and assembling some awesome raffle items and door prizes. If you’re in the Baltimore metro area, order yourself a book from Amazon and come on down! Here’s the link to my event on Facebook. Pirate attire is not mandatory but yours truly will definitely be wearing hers.

FAMILY LIFE:

Beautiful…love them all.

So, this tumbling tumbleweed may be riding all day long but at least I’m headed in the right direction. I know I’ll get there if my mind and body hold out.

I am so blessed but I could really use a good stiff wind to blow me down the road.

So now my friends, it’s time to roll on off and get some shut eye. 😉 No time to edit this…ignore the typos until tomorrow. XOXO
Sons Of The Pioneers – Tumbling Tumbleweeds

I’m a roaming cowboy riding all day long,
Tumbleweeds around me sing their lonely song.
Nights underneath the prairie moon,
I ride along and sing this tune.

See them tumbling down
Pledging their love to the ground
Lonely but free I’ll be found
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

Cares of the past are behind
Nowhere to go but I’ll find
Just where the trail will wind
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

I know when night has gone
That a new world’s born at dawn.

I’ll keep rolling along
Deep in my heart is a song
Here on the range I belong
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

Sorry for my absence. Here’s my excuse note…

I’ve been both busy and lazy for a few days.

I’ve just recovered from pneumonia and a bit of exhaustion set in. I realized I was pushing myself too hard, so besides a few hours at the Inn Saturday evening having some hard apple cider with my favorite crew, watching pre-season football, I slept this weekend…a LOT. What lead me to snoozeville was a weeks worth of working on my future and trying to align the stars. Aligning stars takes a lot of hard work and lack of sleep. So…

Let’s get on with the busy, shall we?

I usually do my best not to put too many irons in the fire but lately, I realize that there are times when you have to in order to forge ahead. (Yep, I know you saw what I did there)

I’m on a mission to hire an advertising and marketing company to assist me with promoting my books. They cost a lotta loot folks. Money is something I am in very short supply of.

When I think back a hundred years and beyond to those famous writers who had benefactors or were already wealthy, I want to punch them in the nose. Okay no, not really but having someone or someones to sponsor you so that you can take your writing to the next level is no longer a thing of the past thanks to crowdfunding.

I’ve been mentioning here and there over the past month about my PubSlush campaign which launches on September 1st. There is quite a bit that goes into one of these campaigns and as of this evening, mine is finally complete and ready to go. I’m hoping that sometime tomorrow, it will be live on the site and showing the countdown clock to when the campaign actually starts.

My PubSlush goal is $5,000 but I hope to surpass that over the 45 days it will be up and running. Please wish me luck and if the notion strikes you, feel free to donate too.

I will be doing some smaller fund raisers as well, starting with a Facebook Partylite event. Here’s the link if you’d like to see what that’s all about. If you like candles and pretty decorative ways to show them off, Partylite has everything you need. One of my oldest and dearest friends is running the event for me and she is donating 25% of the proceeds to my marketing fund. How cool is that?!

Pirate cartoon

Since “The Blue Diamond” will be released on October 1st, my awesome sister-in-law came up with the idea for us to do a pirate themed book signing at our favorite watering hole the week of Halloween, complete with pirate costumes. I’ll be sure to post some photos of this unconventional yet brilliant idea for a book signing event!

???????????????????????

I’ve also been working nightly on my edits. I found an editor who is both excellent and loves my book. Now there’s a plus! We’re like peas and carrots or rather a skull and crossbones…let’s just say we work extremely well together and the book is getting better by the day!

Tonight, I donated three autographed copies of each; “Fireflies” and “Hope From the Ocean” to my county library system for Goodreads raffles. That felt great!

Still have the day job…for now, so it’s time for some shut eye mateys.

Fair winds!
