Uncharted Secrets – My Chat With Mason Bentley and My Review

Endless Horizons

Mason Bentley as Hannah describes him: His stunning green eyes, which stood out like emeralds in the sand against his golden skin.

Mason in his own words:

1. What is your name?

The Name’s Mason Bentley.

2. What is your hair color and style, eye color, and skin tone?

My long hair is a light brown color, my skins golden tan, but I got these green eyes that make the wenches fall faint beneath my gaze.

3. What is your current job title / social station / rank?

I’m a buccaneer captain. Not a pirate. Not a privateer. A buccaneer. The war we wage is strictly against the Spanish, but I bow to no king and any man from any race who tries to take me freedom won’t be living to tell the tale.

4. How much pride do you take in your appearance?

Ah, I never had much while growin’ up, but me grandfather used to say, “If’n ye ‘ave but one schilling it ought to be shiny and if’n but one coat ye better keep it clean.” Now I’m rich as a damned king so I dress as well as one, but I’m better armed than a knight of the roundtable.

5. Who has been your greatest influence (parent, friend, idol)? Why?

My grandfather, Sterling Bentley. He taught me how to stand up for what’s right, to fight for what I believe in, and to protect those unable to protect themselves. I owe him for every bit of sense I carry around in this big ol’ head of mine, and I wouldn’t have fared so well in this wicked world after his passing had he not raised me to be the man I am.

6. Where did you grow up? How do you feel about it now?

I grew up on me grandfather’s farm in the English countryside. It was nice. Hell, I still think about the breeze blowing across those grassy fields when me mind needs a moments rest.

7. What is your worst habit / vice?

Women. I could lead me crew of bawdy buccaneers through the gates of Hell if’n I had to, but those pretty little female creatures tend to throw me good sense out of the porthole and hang me better judgment from the yards.

8. What is the driving force / motivation in your life?

First and foremost, it is freedom, which unfortunately seems an item that can be bought, and Spanish gold is my preferred method of currency to cover the cost.

9. What secret would you feel the most vulnerable sharing with anyone?

The reason I turned to the sea.

10. Does anyone know this secret?

If so, who? How do they feel about it? Only me and the Devil know that, and how he feels about it is of no concern of mine.

My Review of Uncharted Secrets:

FIVE STARS!

I’ve just finished reading this book. I started it last night but I was exhausted and fell asleep with it on my chest. That’s exactly where it belongs…close to my heart! I couldn’t wait to get back to it this evening and once I did, i knew I couldn’t stop until I was done!

Hannah was dealt a horrible hand. After finally escaping her miserable mother, a horrid night at sea threw her even deeper into a hellish nightmare that pushed her to the brink of death until she found herself in the midst of an even more uncertain future. Concerned only with survival and coping with more pain and loss than she could have dreamt in her worst nightmare, her instincts were to fight or flee.

Love wasn’t an option but in once again finding herself and making that discovery through what she believed the most unlikely source…one she wanted to dispise, a sea of change and a Sunrise of unlikely colors may just paint her future for her. When she learns to embrace her gifts, only then can she see past the horizon and stop denying her true nature and her true heart.

As an author myself, I appreciate and dare I say fall in love with stories that are not only well written but get into my head and my heart. This author and this story have captured me but I am a willing prisoner. I was lost in this story and the emotion, the scenery and the almost flesh and bone characters felt so real to me. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to find out what happens next!

Now…to make time for the next book…and believe me when I tell you I will make the time!!!
